Just what I needed!

Well, the ipod I got in my last post was just what I wanted..as it turns out..it is just what I needed. Now by far I am not a runner! Far from it! But last summer I tried to make a habit of taking regular walk/runs(mainly walks). Since I started in with a trainer(just to get in shape) 3 weeks ago I have tried to walk/run more as well. I go to a fun cardio kick boxing class 2 days a week and train 2 days a week. In training I do pilates and weights. I can tell my arms are really getting definition..as for other areas not so much. I am confident it will come with time if I stick with it..which I intend to do. I am also trying to eat well. So back to my my ipod..It turned out to be a beautiful day so I was excited to try out my new ipod. I got dressed and grabbed a dog, put on my ipod armband and off we went. I took off (a little motivated by the music) and ran farther with out stopping than I ever have. I ran 75% of the time which is HUGE for me. I have to say that I loved having music. It really made it easier. I hope I can build up as I go but today I think we were gone for a total of 30-40 minutes. I hate to toot my own horn but..*toot* *toot*
**I realize that many of you are laughing at my minimal exercise but this is the non athlete we are talking about here. While I realize I am NOT going to be a marathon runner I am enjoying doing things MY way and at my own pace.

Like I said earlier we had beautiful weather today. Actually, this week has been beautiful with the exception of Friday. It was so wet, nasty and cold!! I hope we have warm days next week as well.

Dustin and I are still anxiously awaiting his return but in true job related fashion he may be delayed. So once again we are in limbo. Hopefully if he is delayed at all it would only be by a week or 2 weeks at the most. We can see the light at the end of the tunnel..we just don't know when we will reach it.

On a fun note I must share my Friday night outing with y'all. I was invited to a friends Birthday party dinner. It was at a new restaurant that is sorta like an old supper club complete with piano entertainment. It was such a great atmosphere! It was decorated stylishly...very chic. I felt like I walked into somewhere in a big city..not Fargo. A great time was had by all. Lots of friends, great food and fun conversations. Miss Krysta, the birthday girl, had a wonderful time and is now enjoying her gift we all went in on..a weekend in Minneapolis. She is well on her way to a wonderful 27th year..I'm just not sure how many time she has or will celebrate her 27th year. LOL

A few more birthday shout outs! The 21st was my beautiful goddaughter's birthday. Miss Madelyn turned the big 4!! She is growing up so much! She is NOT a baby anymore. She is such a sweet little girl. I wish I could see her more than what I do. She is having her party on Sunday. She insisted on a Mickey Mouse dance party..so what the princess wants..the princess gets.
My beautiful and sweet Hattie had a birthday on Friday. I remember awaiting her arrival 7 years ago. I was so lucky to get to stay with her and keep her the 1st year of her life. She is such a beautiful young lady and she has a very special place in my heart. She had her barn party today. I am sure she had a fun and present filled day!
All of my sweet girls are growing up so fast!

Just what I wanted!

Well, the week has been somewhat hectic and looks that way for rest of the week. I have had lots of Paper Treats work to do...and STILL have lots more!! I have been able to get together with friends this week too! I was able to have Megan and her precious baby girl Emilyn over today. I invited them over because Janie(the BEST at everything!) cleaned the house on Monday. On a side note..Janie is the Mother of a good friend that lives here. She has been visiting for a few months so she has helped clean and organize the house. She has REALLY spoiled me rotten! She is so great..and makes the best beds! I feel like I am in a hotel after she is done with my room! Dustin and I have offered to adopt her but unfortunately she plans to go back home to GA soon. :( I will be in mourning..and will have a messy house when she leaves.
Okay, Sorry! So back to today..I really enjoyed Megan and Emilyn's visit. She is the best baby. She is so sweet and content. Such a happy baby! While conversing during their visit Megan and I got on the subject of our husbands. I will admit that I might have mentioned that I don't get surprises very often(of course those were pre-marriage ;) Boy did I speak too soon! To my surprise when I went to Fedex to pick up a mysterious package that I needed to sign for..what did I get? You guessed it! Dustin surprised me with an Ipod Nano. Just what I wanted!!!! I had mentioned I wanted one because I have been running and working out a lot lately. I have a pretty old and heavy one and they don't make an arm band for it(to have so you can run). He also was so sweet and had the it engraved the exact same as the old one. I just loved that he did that because that is why I was reluctant to get a new one because of the sweet engraving on the 1st. I must say he did a great job! He's good for at least a month or so. ;)

I am very happy to report that Dustin is feeling much better. He says he still feels very weak but is well on the way to recovery. I am sure that it will take him a while to regain his strength. I am sure 3 days of having a fever really zapped his energy. I hope he feels normal again very soon. He has a very important trip to make! He is well past the point of being ready to come home. We both are counting down the days. I must admit that for me, in the end, it gets much harder by the day. These last few weeks just seem to drag by.

The Flu

Well, I was not planning on posting today since I posted TWICE yesterday but I just got off the phone with Dustin. Unfortunately, Dustin is sick with what he thinks is the flu. He has had a fever now for 2 days and feels pretty rough. He is still working his 12hr shifts which I'm sure does not help him get better. It is hard for him to see a Dr. over there so hopefully this bug will pass very soon. Please send good thoughts his way for a speedy recovery. "Over There" is not a place you want to be sick. I just pray that his fever breaks and he is back to normal very soon.

Okay, I know this is my second post today but I was very excited to share this picture of Sadie, Beau, and Dixie... Yeah!! I just figured out how to post pics on here.(Thanks Amber!) This was our babies Easter picture. No, it was not easy getting them to pose. I had to lock them in a room so no one could escape and be very quick with the camera.

We had a very nice and low key Easter. Sadly, the Easter bunny did not make it to our house this year. I woke up to an empty basket..I'm thinking my bunny was maybe out of the country?..hmmmm I did get an Easter "happy" from my Dad and Susie so that was a nice treat. I was able to go to church..which was packed due to all of the once a year church goers but I was so glad to see everyone out and enjoying the day. After church I had the pleasure of joining some dear friends for Easter lunch at a new restaurant in town. It was a nice long lunch with great company! I was also invited to another dear friends house for an early dinner but had to decline the invitation. I am in training(hired a personal trainer to get me in shape) and was told I could NOT splurge so I had to stay home so I would not be tempted. Oh! and for the record I had baked fish for lunch so I was able to stick to my healthy eating because I'm sure y'all were wondering ;)

There's a 1st time for everything

Here goes nothing... I decided to start a blog since it is often difficult to keep up with family and friends from afar. I have been reading friends blogs and I finally bit the bullet and decided to have a go at one. I can't promise that it will be very good but at least you can keep up with "Harris Happenings".

Life in Fargo is getting a little warmer and dryer. We have had a beautiful week with temps in the 50's and 60's. I hope Spring is here to stay but it is Fargo so there is still a chance of snow. I am thankful to report that it looks like our area will be safe from this next crest since the reports say it will crest pretty low. Once all these crests are over our city will have lots to clean up. There are millions of sandbags and dirt walls up everywhere. It really has been a wake up call seeing what all is done to prepare for a flood. I am so thankful to live in such a great community that is so willing to help their neighbors.

Well, with warmer temps you all know what that means..yep! you guessed it! Dustin is coming home!!!!! and we are all ready to get back to life living under one roof..and in the same country. Dustin always jokes that he tries to deploy in time to miss Fargo winters and Desert summers. For the last few deployments his plan has been successful. We hope that he will be home in the next 3-4 weeks but who knows. I will be so glad to see him after 5 long months.

Thanks for reading this inaugural post! I plan on updating often.
